About Animal Crackers
I have gained a vast practical animal handling and care experience, both from looking after my own animals and dealing with various rescue animals.
My current dogs range from 7kg pugs and spaniels, to 65kg Tibetan Mastiffs so you can be assured that I am capable of handling dogs of all shapes, sizes and temperaments.
My experience spans most of the usual domestic species, as well as reptiles, chickens, African pygmy hedgehogs, parrots, tenrecs, coatimundis, opossums, raccoons, skunks and foxes, most of which I care for on a regular basis.
During the start of 2013 I took an Animal First Aid course, covering cats, dogs, rabbits and other small furries. This course covers me for 3 years and I ensure this is always kept up to date.
Animal Crackers was established in 2008 and enables me to work doing something that I love. I have gained some fantastic clients and after a rewarding day at work, I am able to return home to spend quality time with my own menagerie.
The Personal Touch
I do not employ other people to work for me. All work is carried out by myself to ensure that everything is done to my own high standards and that each animal receives quality care and attention.
I am sometimes assisted by my daughter who has undertaken animal care qualifications (BTEC First Diploma in Animal Care, BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management, HND in Animal Management (all completed with distinctions) and has just finished her BSc (Hons) in Animal Management at Askham Bryan College.
She has also undertaken a canine massage course, attended a conference based on management and training of aggressive dogs, scent-work and dogs that are blind and/or deaf, and previously worked as an Animal Care Assistant at Peak Veterinary Practice for 2 years, engaging with both human and animal clients and providing care for the hospitalised animals.
Rescued…….or from a breeder?
Our happy household consists of several dogs and cats, obtained from both rescues and reputable breeders.
Be assured that wherever you have obtained your family member – you will not be judged either way.
Whilst we love all of our animals equally, we also enjoy the social aspect of showing our Tibetan Mastiffs and Tibetan Spaniels at Championship shows across the country, including Crufts.
Whatever we get up to in our spare time, whether it be walking, horse riding or visiting animal collections such as YWP, you can guarantee animals are involved somewhere!
